Last fall, FHA Board members Giff and Mary Jones mentioned in their Tour report on the Houseboatique that they were looking for new ideas this holiday season. They mentioned that one of the Tour Houseboatique volunteers, Debbie Woodbury, seemed to have a few. Everybody started talking.
Party Vibe
Melissa Ahlers, the FHA's Tour Czar, who has a profound sense of how these events can bind a community, offered her home for an evening to host a Houseboatique with a party vibe. Debbie added an extra kick to the marketing this year with her flyer and poster designs. She may have been slightly startled to find herself appointed to the Board, but her energy, willingness and talent made it an obvious move.
We are hoping that the convenience of the evening time and the additional sense there might be, as Debbie says in her flyer, "some neighboly cheer" this year, will attract more, or possibly different, people. So in spite of it being something of a test, we're planning on a spectacular success, and, in any event, a good time.
