Car Stolen on Fairview

When: Sometime between 10:30 PM on Thursday, July 5th and the afternoon of Friday, July 6th.
Where: The car was parked in the spot immediately north of the "East Boston St. projected" sign near 2201 Fairview E.
What: "Our red four-door 1990 Sentra was stolen. The doors were locked, etc. We're hoping a faulty gas gauge stranded the thief somewhere on I-5! Even an old Sentra isn't safe. Since we usually have that car in our garage, we neglected to think of getting a "club"

Electric Bike Stolen from FVE

When: Friday, July 13 sometime between 3 and 6 am.
Where: 2321 Fairview Avenue East.
What: "A new Giant electric bike was stolen from our neighbors houseboat. Bike was locked with cable that was attached to 4x4 on the front deck/porch. The battery and key are not with the bike as owner was keeping the battery charged inside the house. Oddly the bike next door which is a custom made R&E and owner had inadvertently not locked was left alone - and those residents found matches on their deck and heard a noise two nights earlier. So who is to know?"

Cause of Houseboat Fire on June 22nd

"I am the houseboater that got burnt out on 22 June. What a way to start the summer. Although I think everyone should have the experience of losing everything once in their life before they die and lose it all anyway, I am very concerned about badly exceeding my quota of greenhouse gas emissions and will likely have to continue to live as a veghead until age 197 to get back into compliance with the Kyoto accord. We may as well all learn through experience especially if it's bad. The phone wire installer 60+ years ago was the latent killer. S/he threaded the 48-volt 10 gauge down under the logs and through the frame to get to the wall mount. The working of the logs and frame due to the wave action over time wore through the insulation and right down into the copper. Once the copper was worn thin there was so much resistance to the still-live circuit that it arced. Copper melts at 1,984 degrees Fahrenheit. The last the phone circuit was used was over six years ago. Qwest doesn't even call me a customer anymore. The exterior cover painted brown on the houseboat is a good learning device and I wish I had taken a picture for electronic distribution. Get Qwest to examine every houseboat that still has them for unsafe circuits. People need to know this stuff."

Hazmat Disposal

Have you been meaning to make more room on your houseboat by disposing of various types of household hazardous materials? I just did it this month myself at the North Facility and it couldn't be more efficient.
